How to be an Agent of Change
This world of ours needs some changes. There is just so much violence, apathy and indifference that is destroying the quality of life in this world that the Great Creator has made for us. We cannot change the world on our own but we can change ourselves and be an agent of change. The changes we make on ourselves will touch other people’s lives and can create ripples that hopefully will make this world a better place to live in.
Respect the rights of others
If we have rights so do the rest of humanity. Respect the rights of others so that you too can earn their respect. Admit the fact that your rights are not the only one that counts. Respect has nothing to do with wealth or position. It is all about recognizing the dignity of man and treating others in the manner that you want to be treated yourself. If only people have more respect for the rights of others, there will be less traffic fracas and violence, lesser incidence of crimes against property and life.
Don’t be condemnatory or judgmental
Recognize and appreciate the fact that every man is unique and singularly exclusive. Do not discriminate against others who you perceive as “different”. Being different is not menacing neither is it bad or good. Do not judge others just because they do not conform to your standards. This attitude deprives you of the joy of knowing, enjoying and learning. Remember that nobody is perfect, and the guy you are judging could be judging you as well, and in their standards you are the one that is lacking.
Be honest
Be honest to yourself and be honest to others. Honesty is still the best policy. The truth will always come out, maybe not today, or tomorrow but eventually it will. If you are found out lying then your credibility will suffer. No one trusts a liar. But there is a mile of difference between being truthful and being brutally frank. There are gentler kinder and more considerate ways to impart a truth. If you made a mistake, then own up to it. Everybody makes mistakes.
Look for the good in others
It is very easy to find fault in others. But if you keep concentrating on the faults of people then you become blind to their good points. Remember that there is always something good and something bad in all of us. You yourself are not perfect.
